Education: Title: Introducing the Scotts® ProVistaTM Program: A quantum leap in turfgrass genetics Christian Baldwin, Ph.D. - Turfgrass Scientist
As a 150 year old company with a strong turfgrass history, the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company has led many innovations in turfgrass breeding. We are excited to add another innovation to the Scotts legacy with the introduction of Scotts® ProVistaTM Kentucky bluegrass cultivars. These cultivars require half as much mowing compared to conventional turfgrasses through manipulation of the gibberellic acid pathway. Also, plant processes are unhindered following a glyphosate application due to altering a gene responsible for the binding site of glyphosate. This presentation will discuss the technology benefits of Scotts® ProVistaTM, which include a reduction in mowing, improved shade tolerance, reduction of fertilizer use, and increased flexibility of controlling grassy weeds.
